New Oklahoma Bill Protects Minors Online
Oklahoma City, OK — On Friday, November 1, Oklahoma Senate Bill 1959 will go into effect. This new law prohibits commercial entities from distributing sexually explicit materials to persons under eighteen years of age. The law allows parents to put age verification blocking on their devices so that they can protect their children. As reported by Tulsa’s Public Radio KWGS, Pornhub.com has chosen to block access to its platforms in Oklahoma while stating that such laws “make porn users move to darker corners of the internet that won’t follow rules”.
Implementing legislation to protect our young people is a huge step forward in this fight against human trafficking and sexual exploitation. The Oklahoma Coalition Against Human Trafficking is appreciative of all safety measures Oklahomans take to protect children from being sexually exploited or exposed to explicit and harmful material.
