Google Grants $125,000 to The Spring
Sand Springs, OK — We at The Spring, a Tulsa-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing services to those impacted by domestic violence and human trafficking, are proud to announce we have received a $125,000 grant from Google. The funding stems from Google’s ongoing commitment to support schools and nonprofits making an impact in the community and will expand The Spring’s efforts to offer safe shelter, counseling, legal assistance and other essential resources to individuals who have been abused.
“Google’s support through this grant means more services and programming for our neighbors in need,” said Leslie Clingenpeel, executive director of The Spring. “This will make a significant difference in the lives of the people we serve on their journey out of abuse. As we continue to expand our capacity, we aim to provide comprehensive care and equip those we serve with the tools they need to thrive.”
Based on homicide numbers compiled by the Oklahoma Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board, an Oklahoma dies every five days as a result of domestic violence. The Spring is one of only three agencies in Oklahoma certified by the Office of the Attorney General to provide services to individuals impacted by human trafficking. Their mission is to break the cycle of abuse and empower survivors to rebuild their lives.
“The atrocity that is human trafficking impacts Oklahomans from all walks of life,” Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond said. “The Spring is doing the critical work of providing victims with the resources necessary to heal and restore their lives. I commend Google for supporting this organization and its important mission.”
“The Spring brings together essential services and programs that help make a tangible difference in our community,” said Andrew Silvestri, Google’s head of public policy and community engagement in Oklahoma. “They offer hope and a safe haven for those in need, and Google is honored to support its important work in Oklahoma.”
