The Spring Opens Renovated Medical Space

Our renovated space allows us to meet the medical needs of our guests — from the comfort of the shelter.

The Spring is excited to announce the completion of a completely renovated medical space within our shelter. This facility will provide a space for health care providers to visit the shelter and furnish professional services to residents in a private, safe, and confidential setting.

“We’ve been talking about something like this for a while,” Executive Director Leslie Clingenpeel says. “It’s the fruition of a lot of hard work, and we’re excited about the opportunities for care this opens up for those we serve.”

The medical space consists of a lobby and exam room. The lobby provides a place for providers to assess and triage patients, while the exam room provides a state-of-the-art facility for our trauma-informed care providers to meet the needs of guests from the comfort and safety of the shelter.

“It’s not at all uncommon for our guests to have unmet medical needs when they come into our care, but the act of visiting a medical clinic or a hospital can present stress and difficulty for them,” Clingenpeel says. “Having the ability to receive that care inside these walls, in what has become their home and haven, is a powerful thing. It’s really reassuring.”

The renovations to our medical space are due to the generous support of our donors and partners, as well as to wonderful health care providers — like Saint Francis and Warren Clinic — who have made this possible.
